David at the World Cup 2018 & 2022 Host Countries Announcement
December 2nd was a very important day in the soccer/football world. It was then that the World Cup 2018 & 2022 host countries were announced. David Beckham arrived with David Dean and Prince William and then he sat with Lord Coe and Andy Anson while they were announced.
Unfortuantely, England will not be hosting either the 2018 or 2022 World Cup games. 2018 will be held in Russia and 2022 will be in Qatar.
David, who served as England's bid VP, said the following after the winners of the bids were announced:
"I think the bid team have done everything possible, we couldn't have got a better bid. We're disappointed but we wish Qatar and Russia the very best, they're two great countries and I'm sure they'll make FIFA very proud. It's obviously hard to not come away with the World Cup in 2018 but a lot of congratulations have to go to the team, a lot of hard work has been done. It would be great to bring the World Cup to our country because we've not had it for so many years."

David Beckham's World Cup Top 10 Picks
2. Ramos (Spain) - Having played with Sergio at Madrid I can say he’s one of the most determined and committed defenders I’ve come across. He enjoys linking up with the attack and loves to shoot when he gets the chance. He has had a great World Cup.
3. A Cole (England) - I also enjoyed watching Fábio Coentrão for Portugal but Ashley for me is the best left back in the world and probably England’s standout performer in this World Cup. Ashley never stops running and whilst a very good defender, he loves to attack opposing full-backs.
4. Puyol (Spain) - The semi final showed how important he is for Spain. Not only was he strong defensively, he got the crucial goal that took Spain into the Final. I've played against him before and not only does he have natural talent, he has enormous presence and a strong work ethic, leading by example. His partnership with Pique has been crucial to Spain.
5. Mensah (Ghana) - The Ghana captain was very solid as they progressed through the tournament and were unlucky in their Quarter-Final with Uruguay. Leads by example and the rugged defender is not afraid to put his body on the line for his team.
6. Schweinsteiger (Germany) - Has had a very good World Cup and particularly impressive against England. He has all the attributes of a modern midfield player. You would want him alongside you in any team.
7. Sneijder (Holland) - A talented playmaker who has had a great season for club and country. He has an eye for a pass and impressive dead-ball ability. He’s got many goals so far in the World Cup from an advanced midfield role. He will definitely be one to watch at the Final on Sunday.
8. Xavi (Spain) - You could pick Alonso or Iniesta but I love to watch Xavi play. Every team needs a Xavi. He runs the engine room for both Spain and Barcelona and he is such an intelligent player. He has amazing vision and passing ability. He will take on the ball in the tightest of situations and for me, he is Spain's main man. He deserves the highest accolades in the game and could be the player of the tournament along with Sneijder.
9. Mueller (Germany) - Not a name many had heard of before the tournament, but 4 goals and 3 assists from 5 games is an amazing return from the 20 year-old attacking player. It was a shame he missed the semi and you could tell Germany missed his pace and finishing ability.
10. Forlan (Uruguay) - A striker who has got better and better over the years. I was fortunate to play with Diego at United and we could all see what a talented player he
was, now he has supreme confidence. He’s twice been the leading scorer in La Liga and with 4 goals and several assists to his name in South Africa, he’s had a great tournament.
11. Villa (Spain) - Top scorer at the tournament so far, he is one of the world’s best finishers. He can play off either foot and is devastating in front of goal. It's frightening that he is going to what is already a great team at Barcelona.
Three Subs
Bradley (United States) - I thought the US team looked good and were unlucky to go out. My teammate Landon was very good but I was particularly impressed by Michael Bradley. If the States can produce players like him for the future, soccer will be in good health there.
Maicon (Brazil) - Brazil produce great wing backs and I was lucky to play with one, Roberto Carlos at Real Madrid. Maicon is another one off the production line. I thought he played well for Brazil and had a great season for Inter. His goal in their first match was incredible.
Messi (Argentina) - how can you not even have the best player in the world in your squad? He did everything but score a goal in the tournament, was unlucky. He's amazing to watch.

Blast From the Past
Since the World Cup has basically came and went now (especially with England being out of the running), I looked up a few of Victoria's looks from the last WC games and the results of my research were so different from the VB we all know and love today.
Back in 2005-2006, Victoria seemed to favor itty bitty ensembles that consisted of hot pant shorts and mini skirts that were about three inches long. And of course she wore her trademark high heels and at the time, cascading locks.
What a long way we've come!
So Long England
Unfortantely, England suffered a defeat during their last World Cup match against Germany at the Free State Stadium on June 27th in Bloemfontein. The ending score was Germany 4 - England 1 and this loss ultimately put England out of the running.

Victory at Last!
England played yet another Group C match against Slovenia at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and the ending result was a 1-0 England victory thanks to Jermain Defoe who scored the one and only goal.
When David Met the Princes
Yesterday was a very eventful day for David Beckham. Not only did he attend another World Cup group C match (between England and Algeria), he also was at the 2018 World Cup bid FA reception at the Saxon Hotel where he met both Prince William and Prince Harry. Either David had a case of nervous laughter or the Princes were cracking him up because he has the giggles in nearly every pic.. too cute! I love his tie!

A Second Draw Disappoints David Beckham
The England National team played against Algeria yesterday and the result was a 0-0 draw. David Beckham was on the bench lending his support all the while looking extremely anxious. This second consecutive draw is said to be extremely disappointing for England. Hopefully next time they will have better luck.

David Watches England vs the US
On Saturday, the England National team faced the US in their first World Cup match. Even though David is unable to play, he has been along for the ride and attending all practices, press events, and interviews regarding the games so it was fitting to see him there supporting his team on the bench.
The man of the hour wore a 3 piece suit that all of the players have. The ending score was a draw, England - USA 1-1, and this completed England's first round of the World Cup 2010. The game was held at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. England played in white and USA was in blue.

Rumor of the Day: Victoria to Attend the World Cup?
According to the DailyMail, she is planning to fly out from London to South Africa with the 3 boys. However, apparently she won't spend all her time watching the games, but is planning to spend her time visiting underprivileged children in the country.
Supposedly, she has also refusing to stay in the six-star Palace Hotel with the rest of the England WAGs, and has rented a place in Cape Town's Camps Bay. A "source" said: "Victoria is, of course, 100 per cent supportive of David, and will be there to cheer him and the England squad on. But she does not consider herself a WAG in the traditional sense - that is not her at all. She has her own successful career. There was no way she was going to be staying anywhere near the WAGs this World Cup, so she has rented a beautiful flat for herself and the boys."
I don't really think that I believe this too much because she already said she wasn't going. But hey, she may have had a change of heart.

World Cup Day #1
To kick off the World Cup, before the night's festivities, the England team had a training session at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. David was there to show his support and give the team a hand if need be. He spent the session watching his fellow teammates as well as playing around a bit himself.
England will play the U.S. in a soccer World Cup Group C match on Saturday.

David Attends Bidders Exhibition
Yesterday, a very dapper David Beckham attended the exhibition of the bidders to help promote England's 2018 World Cup bid in Johannesburg. There, he rubbed elbows with many including Lucas Radebe (the former South Africa and Leeds Utd captain), Russian billionaire and owner of Chelsea Football Club, Roman Abramovich, and UEFA President Michel Platini.
