Maternity Chic... So Far...

When Victoria announced she was pregnant, the majority of us were extremely excited and not just because there will be yet another gorgeous Beckham baby in the world (the most obvious reason), but also because we were excited to see what Victoria's fourth time maternity style would be like.

So far, I have not been disappointed! In my opinion, she is the most stylish woman on the planet and even in pregnancy, she still reigns supreme. Yes, she's very into blazers and billowy tops right now, but who else is rocking thigh high boots with chains in the back, towering Louboutin platforms, or waxy denim with spikes along with their baby bump?

Victoria Beckham in VB - InStyle Look of the Day

Even though I wasn't a big fan of Victoria's British Fashion Awards look, those at InStyle magazine sure loved it because they nominated her in her self designed dress for a "Look of the Day" this week.

I'm sorry but the hair really ruins this look for me. The more I see it the more I cringe.

24 Hour Trend Alert: Thigh-High Slits

Courtesy of People.com:

It seems that thigh’s the limit these days! In a span of 24 hours, at three very different fĂȘtes, Carrie Underwood, Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham dared to bare in the same revealing silhouette. Playing by the rules in Sin City, the country singer flashed her sinewy gams in a scarlet red beaded Edition by Georges Chakra gown, Coomi earrings and a metallic clutch and heels by Rene Caovilla at Monday’s American Country Awards. That same night in N.Y.C., Angelina flashed some leg in a winter white Atelier Versace wrap dress that highlighted her limbs and ample dĂ©colletage. The following evening, across the pond, Designer Brand of the Year nominee, Beckham, left little to the imagination in a slitted kimono gown of her design at the British Fashion Awards. We say, if you’ve got it flaunt it.

Kelly Hoppen Praises Victoria Beckham's Take On Fashion

Victoria Beckham amazed good friend Kelly Hoppen with her unique take on fashion by customising a loungewear top the interior designer had given her from her new clothing collection.

"Victoria didn't help me with the designs, but when I gave her some in the summer, it was quite funny because she put one top on inside out and I went you've got it on inside out and she said, 'Yeah, I did on purpose.' And I was like, 'Well, actually it looks quite cool.' She put her own twist on it. But that's why she's so stylish, never afraid to try out different looks, and she always looks great."

Style Inspiration: Dinner at Claridges Meets Fashion Week

As I was looking at photos of the Clardiges dinner from a few nights ago, I couldn't help but think that both Tana and Louise drew a bit of style inspiration from Victoria's looks during Fashion Week when choosing their outfits. For example, Tana's black leather pants, Louboutins, white top, and blazer ensemble reminded me a lot of Victoria's outfit she wore to The View back in September. Louise's outfit, particularly her shirt, brings back memories of Victoria's rocker chic Isabel Marant look for dinner after her spring 2011 presentation.

Kim Kardashian Praises Victoria Beckham and Follows in her Footsteps

Reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian loves Victoria Beckham's dresses. She said she often struggles to find outfits which flatter her curvaceous figure, but that VB's dresses are ideal for her shapely behind and busty frame.

"Victoria Beckham's totally my style icon. I wear her dresses constantly. There are some clothes out there I just can’t wear because of my body type. I definitely can’t wear short shorts! They’re not flattering! I also can’t wear anything too baggy, because being busty on top, looser fitting dresses almost make me look pregnant. I need to wear more fitted outfits. That’s why I love Victoria’s dresses so much - because they are so fitted and flattering for my body. I wear them all the time. I was so exited when Victoria Tweeted me. I’ve met her once. We have some friends in common, she’s very sweet.”

I don't know about you all but I only remember her in one VB dress... the black one photographed here that she wore to the InStyle party a few months ago.

Anyway, in other related news, it has been reported that Kim is following closely in Victoria's footsteps as far as Hermes bags are concerned. If you recall I did a post where I compared VB to KK and how I feel that Kim is often inspired by her and it looks like Victoria's Hermes collection is one of the main sources of inspiration.

It has been reported this week that while enjoying Europe with her mother, the duo stopped off in Paris where Kim dropped over $100,000 in an Hermes store. Apparently she bought 6 $10,000 Birkin bags and spent a whopping $30,000 on the orange over sized Kelly photographed above. Must be nice to be famous for no real reason and be getting paid astronomical amounts of money for it!

Victoria Beckham: Is She For Real?

Courtesy of The New York Times
By: RUTH LA FERLA

VICTORIA BECKHAM talks the talk. Guiding a visitor through her fall 2010 collection, spread on a rack in her studio in Battersea, she draws out a dress recently worn by Cameron Diaz, identifying its fabric authoritatively as a metallic jacquard. Another, shapely and lavishly draped, is underpinned by domette wadding, she says, to hold its folds in place. Still another, crisp as corn flakes, was made of gazar. “Gazar, I love it,” Ms. Beckham murmurs, savoring the term like a vintage Bordeaux.

A quick study, she has mastered the argot of the cutting room with the same alacrity that has marked all her most ardent pursuits — the voice and music lessons that laid the foundations for her career as the pop idol known as Posh Spice; her marriage to the British soccer star David Beckham, an exercise in family branding; her wardrobe, engineered to show off her whippet frame and improbably lusty chest.

“I don’t do anything by halves,” she says, an edge in her voice. “If you’re going to do something, do it properly, I think. Otherwise there is no point in doing it at all.” ...

That resolve has paid off handsomely. In recent months Ms. Beckham, she of the contorted public poses, racy aphorisms and fleeting television career, has emerged as an industry force, the wily maverick of New York Fashion Week.

Written off not so long ago as a pneumatic Barbie of the hinterlands, Ms. Beckham has been a fixture in the front row at presentations like those of Chanel and Marc Jacobs. Her sinuously curvy cocktail dresses have been worn by Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore and Ms. Diaz and are showcased in stores alongside luxury labels like Narciso Rodriguez and Vera Wang. “Don’t underestimate her,” said Anna Wintour, among the many editors and retailers who have embraced her, pointing out that Ms. Beckham has managed, in a scant four seasons, to shed her dubious standing as the girl least likely to succeed.

“She’s growing up,” said Ken Downing, the fashion director of Neiman Marcus, and an early advocate of Ms. Beckham’s designs. “Her knowledge of dressmaking is impressive. She understands how to bring out the best in the female form, and that’s one reason our clients are drawn to what she does.” As important, he said, “She knows how good clothes feel when they’re on. Because she has worn them.”

Morgan Freeman's Beckham Praise

Morgan Freeman credits David Beckham with making men's fashion popular to the mass market because the soccer star has made it more acceptable for males to take pride in their appearance.

The Oscar-winning actor says the soccer star has made it acceptable for males to start taking pride in their appearance and think about what they're wearing.

He said: "Before, men's fashion was for social things, for gays, for eccentrics, for weirdos; it was small market. David was the start: a hot straight, family man with kids. He was such a big star and he gave the possibility to be fashionable to millions. He made it possible for men to approach fashion without fear. Men felt, if he can do it, I can."

The Beckhams Are One of InStyle's Most Stylish Couples

How could they not be? With devestatingly good looks and designer wardrobes to go on for miles, the Beckhams are certainly a dynamic duo when in comes to style (amongst other things).

InStyle magazine has composed a list of stylish celebrity couples and of course they included Mr. and Mrs. Beckham:

"David and Victoria Beckham are always a stylish pair on the red carpet. While Victoria is rarely seen outside of formfitting designer dresses (at left, in a William Tempest design and Brian Atwood pumps), David often alternates between handsome suits and more casual looks, such as the jeans and hoodie combo he wore for the launch of his Adidas Originals line."

Victoria Loves to Pass On Fashion Tips Says Emma Bunton

Fashionista Victoria Beckham loves to pass on her style tips, says her former ''Spice Girls'' bandmate Emma Bunton. The singer-turned-fashion designer has thrilled her friends with how well her new career is going and delights in sharing her knowledge and expert tips, Contactmusic reported online.

"I chose it myself and I love it. Victoria''s dresses always make you feel so stylish," said Emma at the Sex and the City 2 premier.

"I am so lucky to have a great friend who designs wonderful outfits! She is an amazing designer. It is so difficult to go from music and do something else and there is real pressure, but it''s worked out so brilliantly for her. She has given me her advice before and told me to keep it classic," she added.

Victoria's Top of the Frocks . . . Again

Victoria Beckham has proved conclusively that she is in fashion design for the long haul.

Her latest figure-hugging frocks were one of the highlights of the Brown Thomas autumn/winter designer collection unveiled yesterday.

Now in her fifth season, the former Spice Girl yesterday attracted as much interest as established couturiers such as Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo and the late Alexander McQueen, whose final creative work -- including a great grey jacket -- was on show.

You've heard of trophy wives, well, Victoria has unleashed a limited edition of trophy frocks, guaranteed to bring out more intense rivalry among the ladies-who-lunch set and social butterflies, eager to bag the dress of the season.

All eyes were on the nude floor-length draped dress which closed the 72-piece show.

The show-stopper clings in all the right places and then falls into a delicious puddle of liquid silk jersey and features a pretty 3D grosgrain embroidered belt. Reminiscent of 1930s Hollywood glamour, only one will be sold here with a price tag of €2,495, so it's a case of watching the August social pages to see which lady got to the hanger first.

Shimmering

Brown Thomas has increased its VB buy by 50pc this season and among the consignment of 80 coveted frocks -- which cost from €1,105 to €3,500 -- was a red, body-hugging dress (€1,275) in dense rib featuring her signature full-length zip at the back and fold-neck detail. There was also a shimmering corset dress with asymmetric shoulder in eye-popping, double-sided metallic jacquard (€2,495).

The silver and gold dress sent one would-be bride into a tail spin.

"Victoria was very involved when we went to buy the collection," said Brown Thomas fashion director Shelley Corkery. "She came and talked about the dresses and the collection and ate macaroons."

Shelley maintains the first three purchases for the sassy shopper for autumn-winter will be the tailored suit, a white shirt and a trench coat.

D&G's sexy version falls above the knee, while the affordable 'Michael by Michael Kors' diffusion range features a camel wool trench coat with gold buttons.

To the wish list, I would add a digital print dress from Mary Katrantzou, the young Greek designer and St Martin's graduate who caused a sensation at London Fashion Week, and her dresses feature trompe l'oeil jewels, with emeralds and amethysts that almost wink at you like a face.

The stick-thin Mrs Beckham eats macaroons?

That was the biggest surprise of the day but she's a lady who is kind to women "who like their dinner" and the mother-of-three features body-shaping corsetry in the architecture of her dresses, which can take inches off and help create that pared-down, hourglass figure.

After seasons of domination by the dress, trousers are making a comeback this season, with tailoring to the fore and lots of trench coats and parkas will be finding their way into our wardrobes.

Phoebe Philo, who used to be Stella McCartney's design assistant at Chloe, proves her genius at Celine and her two-tone dresses in contrasting colours and fabrics went straight on to many 'must-have' lists.

New labels to the store include Donna Karan's mainline collection which is stuffed with drop-dead gorgeous, sophisticated black dresses.

Our love affair with 'Mad Men', '60s-inspired retro refuses to go away and Balenciaga's tweed suit and Chloe's collarless charcoal wool coat with concealed buttoning and seven-eights sleeves would have been instant hits with style icons Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O.

Traditional tailoring has timeless appeal for men who will be back wearing three-piece suits.

Key colours to watch are grey, navy and camel.

David Admits Matching Outfits Are Coincidental

We all know that the Beckhams are considered style icons and that they often dress to compliment what the other is wearing. However, at one point in time - early in their relationship, they seemed to go out wearing matching ensembles that were less complimentary and more, well, horrific I guess you could say.

Case in point, the matching leather outfits they wore to the Versace store opening back in 1999 were not planned, but coincidental says David. “There are a few examples of our regret, as when we are wearing leather pants and jackets. Victoria looks interesting, but together I looked back and thought it (look) a bit excessive.”

He also stated that he thinks his wife looks great in everything and that he's open to constructive criticism. "Victoria looks good in everything. People always ask, if we combine our clothes, but sometimes one of us ready to go down in a room below and the other clothes will come down. We will choose the same color or one type of clothing with a consideration of time."

Above are a few more of the Beckhams matching styles - like matching Dolce & Gabbana for the MTV awards, leather biker jackets, and his and her suits. Below is the video of David as he discusses fashion and his wife.

David Voted #1 on Best Dressed Celebrity Dads List

One of my favorite sites for celebrity photos is Zimbio and they always do these cute little lists. Their most recent one is Best Dressed Celebrity Dads and of course David is #1!

"Not enough can be said about hottie David Beckham. This soccer star needs no help from wife Victoria Beckham—he's got enough style for the both of them. From the red carpet to the soccer field, his style remains impeccable."
I couldn't agree more!

Victoria Crowned World's Most Glamorous Celebrity!

It's a title that is perfectly fitting for the fashionista if you ask me!

Mrs. Beckham has been crowned the most stylish woman in the UK as the result of a poll held by cosmetics giant Max Factor (which asked the opinion of 3,000 women) for the launch of their new Vibrant Curve Effect Lip Gloss. It seems that her signature black dresses, super-high designer heels and a collection of Birkins a girl could die for, have put former Spice Girl turned-designer at the top of the list.

A spokesperson for the Max Factor brand said: "Victoria Beckham has been gracing the fashion pages for years now with her glamorous looks and she has designed her own clothes range. She never leaves home without being fully made up and her signature glossy pout has become her calling card."

Dannii Minogue was the runner up.

*Congrats Victoria on a title that is well deserved!

How Victoria Beckham Beat the Fashion Snobs

By: Luke Leitch of The Times

It may be indelicate. But if you’d choose to describe Victoria Beckham as a “hot mom”, then fair enough. However there are better times (and better places) to do this than to her face at 11am on Valentine’s Day in the £19 million townhouse on East 63rd Street where she is showcasing her latest ready-to-wear collection.

Sadly, nobody pointed this out to the campish American fashion hack who did precisely that (in unprintable terms). As Mrs B cried “No!” in a vain attempt to forestall him, he inquired whether she ever worried that one day Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz might discover that their friends had more than cookies on their minds when they came to hang chez Beckham.

In unison, the clutch of top-tier editors — from publications including American Vogue, Vanity Fair and Le Figaro — laughed two octaves higher than is entirely comfortable. Then Beckham neatly defused the situation with an elegant response, and bid everyone — but The Times’s Lisa Armstrong and me — adieu. As they oozed off towards the marbled doorway, she turned to us, held up her hands and said: “Look, my palms are sweating!”

As well they might have been. Because for this, her fourth collection, the eponymous figurehead of the newly christened Victoria Beckham label faced the fashion pack head on — and, for the first time, she won them over completely. From the New York Post to Women’s Wear Daily via Style.com, every review has been a rave or near-rave. And this has been a genuine critical response, unsullied by over-zealous PR or indirect kickbacks: as Beckham is not yet a significant advertiser, none of the reviewers had any reason to be anything but honest.

Beckham, it is belatedly being realised, might yet — in her own way — become just as notable a young female British designer as the vaunted trinity of Hannah MacGibbon, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo. But because fashion is intrinsically snobby — although most fashion people would call this “discerning” — Posh (as she was never sincerely called), has been a difficult sell for many. Only a few years ago British High Street PRs sniffed that they dreaded seeing Posh wearing their clothes.

Now, though, she has broken them down; primarily through the quality of the clothes, but also via disarming touches such as admitting her relative ignorance. Take this cheery New York confession: “Look, it’s a very basic way that I am doing this. You can see that from the gold dress. The drape has literally been draped on me. We tied it in a knot. And I thought ‘that looks really cool — I like that’. Technically it’s probably not the right way to do things. But there’s a really fun, playful atmosphere in the studio.”

Later, she adds: “I have had to prove myself. But that’s a good thing: everybody has to prove themselves, not just me . . . I want to grow as a designer, I want to learn the techniques and do more and more.”

Part of this self-imposed initiation is Beckham’s decision not to show the collection as a traditional show. Instead Beckham semi-masochistically subjects herself to intimate presentations at which she commentates on each of the 25 or so dresses.

This year, she tells us in a nervily stiff voice, she has taken “a more sophisticated and daring approach to our evening wear”. Which translates into a series of 1930s and 1940s siren-wear-inspired dresses for the modern knock-out. All heavily corseted, in raglan, silk, crepe or wool, they have a confident simplicity zinged up by soft-touch details including neck folds, gold zips, narrow little belts and a Dick Tracy inspired print on her beloved Cloud Dress. Most of the collection comes in either black or fleshy silk, but the odd flash of colour — in sapphire, emerald or ruby — is eye-catching without being brash.

Yes, Victoria Beckham is a (crocked) footballer’s wife, but nobody — even the snobbiest of those snobs — can call this stuff vulgar. The most important critics of all — the consumers — have already worked this out. From Corso Como, to Net-a-Porter, to Selfridges and Bergdorf Goodman, the international outlets that stock Beckham’s dresses all report a near-to-100 per cent sell through.

Next season’s collection has already been swooped on by Beckham’s new celebrity clientele: in the past couple of weeks Cameron Diaz wore the one-shouldered gold jacquard dress to the Vanity Fair Oscars party, Demi Moore opted for the sapphire silk column dress, and last week at a White House do Sarah Jessica Parker went for a Victoria Beckham number in cerise. This is an extremely good hit rate. Or, as Beckham says: “The support has been fantastic. And it’s been great that it’s been on lots of different body shapes as well. There have been tiny people wearing the dresses, such as Madonna, and then Jennifer Hudson wore one at the Golden Globes. The way the dresses have been constructed means that they are really flattering.” Flattering to Hudson, and certainly to the super-skinny models at her presentation.

Madonna is the only person to whom Beckham has sent an unsolicited freebie. It was a black-bodiced, ivory-skirted version of a corset dress that she spotted Madonna wearing for an American fashion shoot. And considering the competition it must have faced, that Beckham freebie got an impressive airing: Madonna wore it for her birthday supper last August at the Hotel Splendido in Portofino.

All the Victoria Beckham collection is made in London. And Beckham insists that she now sees design as her full-time, long-term job. “And,” she adds, “I think my middle son thinks that he is going to take over. Romeo likes to get involved.” He certainly has a good name for fashion design. Yet despite her commitment to the company’s London HQ, Beckham says that her family has no plans to leave Los Angeles. “The kids are settled in school, and very happy. And we have a lovely team of people. I travel a lot — Milan, London — and the kids enjoy it, soaking up the culture.”

Creating a red-letter collection of red-carpet dresses is labour intensive. One dress in particular, that Cloud, took up days of Beckham’s time as she and her team strove to get it just so (“it was crazy the amount of hours, days and days, but I was adamant”). And, as Beckham so disarmingly concedes, she is learning on the job: “That’s how it works. I make it on me, to very much what I like.”

This is decadent, yet Beckham says that her fashion business is in profit. “We’ve relaunched the denim and the sunglasses. And we’ve got a fragrance that’s been hugely successful too. So it funds itself.”

As she speaks, her salespeople are with buyers, on another floor of the New York house, showcasing the Cutler & Gross sunglass collaboration and the denim line. The house, by the way, was used as Carrie Bradshaw’s dream penthouse in the Sex and the City film, and Beckham briefly fantasises about buying it — perhaps, one day, to be a New York flagship for her brand. “This feels like the first season where this could be the house of Victoria Beckham, if you like. The first time I went into a Tom Ford store, years ago, I was so impressed. I loved the feeling of it being Tom Ford’s house.”

Even facing the fashion critics close-up, Beckham is confident enough to team her simple-but-sexy new-season dress with unextended hair and straight-up make-up. “Things have changed,” she says, before unveiling dark news for St Tropez, “I’ve downgraded the fake tan and the big hair. I just wanted a more natural look — a much more natural look. And I’m not going back, either.”

Two fashion weeks later, at Roland Mouret’s RM show in Paris, I met the man who has backed both Beckham and Mouret: Simon Fuller. This new-generation fashion mogul (he now owns Storm model agency, the Fashionair website, as well as holding interests in both labels) said: “I have the utmost respect for the individuals. With Roland and Victoria I will not second guess them.” Later he added: “I believe in Victoria, because it is her passion.”

And you can tell. Because why else would Victoria Beckham feel the need to talk us through each dress, or point out again and again that she’s only new to the fashion game, or put up with a bunch of facile questions from a bunch of fashion journalists? It’s not as if she could do with the cash.

Apropos facile questions, when that guy came up with his “do you worry your sons’ friends will think you’re a hot mom” question, Beckham’s response was impeccable. She said: “As long as it’s not their girlfriends wanting to get their hands on my handbags, I don’t really care!” Then she added: “I wouldn’t really say that I’m a sexy mum. I’d say I’m a full-on mum. It’s a balancing act, as any working mum out there knows.”

As we tootle off to the next show, Victoria Beckham waves her now-unsweaty palms around her showroom and says: “This is very much me. I feel more confident in myself because I feel fulfilled, creatively and professionally. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I feel very happy. I’m in a good place in my life. And I don’t feel I have to prove myself as much as I used to have to.”

Victoria Beckham's Very Stylish Week

Undoubtedly, Victoria Beckham stepped out in quite a few dazzling ensembles last week and we all took notice... and so did InStyle magazine who nominated the fashionista for "Look of the Day" not once, not twice, but three times last week!
