Last night was heart wrenching for me because I wanted the Galaxy to win so badly - as I'm sure many of you did. I sat there and watched each of the 120 minutes as well as the pre-game show and was so upset at the final outcome.
The game started off really well with Magee scoring in the first few minutes and lots of great action from both teams. There were a few glitches along the way as Real Salt Lake's Morales was taken out with an injury and then the Galaxy's beloved goal keeper, Donovan Ricketts suffered a horrific crash which resulted in a broken hand.
The game went to the wire 1-1 including double over time but it was the penalty kicks that ultimately brought the 5-4 fate and dubbed Real Salt Lake the winners of the MLS cup. But on a positive note, David did take the first PK for the Galaxy and knocked it right in - Landon Donovan, the team's captain, unfortunately missed his target.
After the game ended, David looked a bit distraught and even had to seek the assistance of an inhaler... something I've never seen before.

Becks had this to say of the final outcome: "It's always tough losing, but we can be proud of where we've come to. 'We all want to win titles and personally I'd love to be successful. But I think we have been successful this year without winning tonight, we have quietened a few people along the way which is always nice but we couldn't finish it off."
So sad for the Galaxy but hopefully they will come back and take home the cup in 2010!
