It's a rare vehicle that offers everything - at least at a price that people can afford or are willing to pay. The 2009 Toyota Camry is one of those vehicles that is relatively unexciting. It is however, efficient, reliable, and reasonably safe. The base model offers a 2.4-liter, 158-hp engine with a choice of either a manual or automatic five-speed transmission. A 3.5-liter, 268-hp engine with six-speed automatic is optional. The 2009 Toyota Camry comes in numerous trims that range from the very basic CE to the decadent luxury that is the top-of-the-line XLE. A "sport" trim, the SE, is somewhere in the middle.
Despite its rather pedestrian styling and somewhat cheap interior materials, the 2009 Toyota Camry has a great deal of passenger room - even in the back seat, amazingly enough. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, power driver's seat and door locks, and a CD player. Available options include a deluxe JBL sound system, DVD navigation and Bluetooth wireless capability.
In terms of safety, the 2009 Toyota Camry got good marks all-around in federal government crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2009 Toyota Camry a "Good" rating in all areas tested except rear impact.
The top-of-the-line V-6 2009 Toyota Camry XLE with all the bells and whistles will run you around $35,000. That's not chump change, mind you, but it isn't bad compared to a comparable BMW or Mercedes. It may lack the sporty excitement of the former and the refinement of the latter, but it will definitely get you to wherever you need to go in reasonable safety - without having to ride with your knees jammed up under your nose.
