Henry has mirrored Beckham's career path by reaching the top of the game in England before making a high-profile transfer to Spain and finally completing a twilight move to play in the United States. So it was natural that Henry would consult Beckham over the success of his move, and since the Englishman had nothing but good things to say about his decision, Henry said it helped him settle on the Red Bulls.
"I did approach David on my move,'' Henry said. "He never said anything negative to me about the MLS and told me he enjoys everything in the game here. I respect Becks. He has been a great guy to me. He encouraged me to play here.''
