Victoria Beckham isn't pregnant, but she's recently been in labor. Putting the finishing touches on her third dress collection, of course. "I feel like I'm giving birth to my fourth child," the star told us Sunday morning following an intimate reveal of the 20-dress Spring/Summer line. The good-natured, exceedingly friendly star played hostess at the Hosfelt Gallery, personally walking a group of about 10 through the details on each piece.
Beckham proudly introduced a new "very girly, very fresh" silhouette -- the flared skirt -- and also for the first time used a few sassy prints. Love it or hate it (we're torn), but this Fashion Week is all about the strong shouldered look and Beckham agreed, adding small shoulder pads to some frocks. ("It gives the illusion of a smaller waist," she said.)
Other strong themes from the week popped up in Beckham's line, including geometric cutouts (in the fronts and backs of dresses) and the exposed industrial zipper. Corsetry ("You feel very secure in there," she giggles) continued to play a big part in the structure of Beckham's dresses. In some cases dresses contained belts on the inside, "which means everytime a customer puts it on it drapes perfectly."But this morning's event wasn't all serious talk...About halfway through the presentation, a model strode out wearing the same dress as Beckham."It's never a good thing to wear the same as the models," Beckham joked. "I represent the normal person right now and what it's gonna really look like." (Debatable given Beckham's tiny size -1 figure!)
At the conclusion of the show, we leaned over to Beckham and asked if she'd consider sending a few of the dresses to Michelle Obama. Her eyes widened. "Oh! Really! You think?" She continued to ponder. "It would be a dream come true. She's so beautiful. She has an amazing figure and she's an amazing women. I love strong women, strong stylish women. I'd be honored for her to take a look."
