Former England captain David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, and Gary Lineker joined forces at Wembley today to urge people throughout the nation to register their support for England’s bid to become the host nation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The pair unveiled the official public support campaign which aims to get two million signatories backing the bid. David said: “To have the World Cup in your own country is the dream of any player. I know first hand the passion of our fans and they would provide an incredible atmosphere at every game. A World Cup in England would inspire a generation of younger players and capture the imagination of everyone.”
