David started the match against AS Roma and played for 89 minutes as he made his first appearance in Serie A following his loan move earlier this month. AC Milan travelled to Roma's Stadio Olympico to contest the tie, which finished 2-2, courtesy of two goals from Milan's young forward Alexandre Pato in between strikes from Roma's Mirko Vucinic. The home team went ahead midway through the first half, when Vucinic blasted in his third goal in three games, but just after the break Pato scored from a Kaka cross to level the match. Shortly after Milan went ahead as Pato scored his second, but the celebrations were short-lived as Vucinic earned Roma a point with a diving header. David, playing on the right of a three-man midfield, worked hard in his first competitive game since October and was eventually replaced in the 89th minute by Mathieu Flamini. Milan face Fiorentina at home in their next match on SaturdayDavid on his Serie A Debut:
David was as surprised as anyone to discover he’d be starting the match against Roma on Sunday for AC Milan, but was clearly delighted to be given his chance.
"I found out I was going to start before the game during the team meeting," he said. "I was very happy that the manager kept me on for as long as he did because it is important for me to get match fitness. To be honest, I felt better than I thought I would feel.” David was especially pleased that his recent efforts in training appeared to have paid off when it came to playing and hopes to repeat the experience as soon as possible. "I didn't think I would last that long but I felt so good. At half-time I felt really strong. I think the manager saw that I felt good, that I still had energy and he kept me on. Now I just hope to start some more games, but I will take one step at a time."
